In Remembrance of Former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt

Today we mourn the loss of former North Carolina Gov. Jim Hunt, the state’s longest-serving governor and a driving force behind the creation of MCNC and NCREN in the 1980s.

Gov. Hunt understood early on that technology and education were keys to North Carolina’s future – calling “MCNC of great importance to public education and the economic success of North Carolina.”

Gov. Hunt’s legacy is one of leadership, foresight, and deep commitment to the people of North Carolina. His impact lives on today through our K-20 schools, research institutions, and the communities he served so faithfully.
