Adding Audio-Only Participants


We have the ability to allow audio-only participants to be bridged into a video conference. Participation requires access from the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Any scheduled participant for a video session is eligible to use audio-only as an alternate connection. It is typically used in one of three scenarios:

  • The participant is viewing a live stream and desires to interact with the other participants.
  • The participant must interact in a video session from a location that is not equipped for video conferencing.
  • The participant’s video site has experienced a problem that interrupts the video session, and a phone connection can be established quickly and easily for continuity.

Requirements of Service:

The participant must have access to a wired landline or a cell telephone that is capable of connecting to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The dial-in information must be determined prior to the session start.

Eligibility and pricing can be obtained by submitting a Request for Service.

Terms & Conditions:

We are not responsible for the inability to hear the session if the source of the interruption is coming from the receiving end. Terms & Conditions can be obtained by submitting a Request for Service.

Availability & Commitments:

MCNC provides participants of this service an audio only feed on a failsafe phone connection. Please see our NCREN Video Quality Assurance Program for more information.

Interactive Audio Inclusion sessions are scheduled by submitting a request to videoreq at This request should be made immediately after scheduling the video conference so that the MCNC video team has enough time to add this feature to the conference.
