We created this webspace to serve as a central location for MCNC-NCREN topics that are relative to the NC Community Colleges. This MCNC webspace will be metamorphosing over time to highlight topics that will be of particular interest to our NC Community College NCREN Community.
In January 2011, MCNC working with the North Carolina Community College System, completed the project to connect all 58 NC Community College main campuses to the North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN). Round 2 of the BTOP funded expansion of the NCREN is expected to be completed in 2013 and will provide 46 campuses direct fiber connectivity to the NCREN.
Benefits of NCREN connectivity include lower costs for commercial Internet, access to Internet2 and National Lambda Rail, priority access to GOOGLE, and high-speed non-constrained connectivity to all state education institutions so that virtual education resources can be shared seamlessly.
As our customer, access the NCREN Community Portal to view connection information for your institution. Login and password are required.
