NCREN Community Day
2007

MCNC’s annual North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN) Community Day is scheduled for Friday, December 7th, 2007 on the MCNC campus in Research Triangle Park, N.C.  Check-in and breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m. in building one, with information sessions commencing at 9:00 a.m.

On Thursday, December 6th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in building three, we will host demonstrations from classroom capture vendors and provide the opportunity to talk to room design professionals. Participating vendors include Accordent, Mediasite, Echo360, Apple Podcast Producer, Kontek, Visicom Systems, and Whitlock.

This year’s event will kick-off with the Future of Education in North Carolina Panel consisting of education leaders discussing the role of technology in their vision for the state.  This panel will be moderated by The Honorable Kay R. Hagan, North Carolina State Senator.

An interesting and diverse agenda has been planned for this year’s event.  Planned topics include:

  • Campus Cyber Infrastructure:  Addressing the challenges and advances in networking to support research and implementation of cyber infrastructure initiatives.
  • Research Networking:  A representative from the Global Environment for Network Innovations (GENI) will describe the role of GENI in the future of network research.
  • Education and Technology, A Student Perspective:  Students from across the state will discuss their networking and technology experiences.
  • Collaborative Services Toolkits:  Discussion of collaborative tools and integration of toolkits in the K-20 environment.

We are excited about this year’s Community Day and hope that you all can join us.  Registration will remain open through Friday, November 30, 2007.  Check this site regularly for updated information.
