NCREN Community Day
2006

MCNC’s annual North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN) Community Day is scheduled for Friday, December 8th, 2006 on the MCNC campus in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Check-in and breakfast begins at 7:45 A.M. in building one, with information sessions commencing at approximately 9:00 A.M.

On Thursday, December 7th from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. in building 3, we will host demonstrations of high definition video devices. Codian, LifeSize, Polycom, Sony, Tandberg, and inSORS (an Access Grid provider) will participate. The demonstration area will also be available during breaks and lunch on Friday.

We have some very engaging panels and are extremely pleased to announce that the K-12 Networking Panel will include Beverly Perdue, North Carolina Lt. Governor;  Joe Tolson, NC House of Representatives; June Atkinson, North Carolina State Superintendent of Public Instruction; Edgar Murphy, North Carolina State Board of Education; and Jane Patterson, Executive Director, e-NC.

The Federal Policy Issues Panel will include Tim Lance, President & CEO, NYSERnet; George Loftus, Executive Director, OSHEAN and Chair & President, NEREN; Doug Carlson, Executive Director Communications & Computing Services, NYU; and Jeff Kuhns, Associate Vice-Provost, Information Technology, Penn State University
.

Our diverse program also includes presentations on Regional Networking, Ad Hoc Videoconferencing, ibiblio, RENCI, Virtual Computing Lab, and Enlightened Computing.
